Join Emma Healey author of million-copy bestselling Elizabeth is Missing in conversation with local debut author Marie O’Hare as they discuss their novels Sweat and I Know Where You Buried Your Husband; two pulse-racing novels that centre ‘difficult’ women in very tricky situations and explore themes of physical and psychological power, revenge, self-discipline, and what happens when women decide to stand up for themselves.
SWEAT
Cassie has spent two years rebuilding her life and her body after leaving her coercive, fitness-obsessed partner, Liam. But when he walks into the gym where she works, and appears to be blind, she has to make a split-second decision that will change how she sees herself forever. Because she holds the power now.
It’s Liam’s turn to sweat.
I KNOW WHERE YOU BURIED YOUR HUSBAND
Sophia, Safa, Ella, Ajola and Caoimhe have been friends since school. They are difficult women; funny, sharp and clever ones – the sort that would have probably ended up burned at the stake a few hundred years ago.
When one of them is about to be framed for murder, they inextricably bind their fates together via some bin bags, a spade and a promise never to tell.
Years later, when an anonymous blackmailer threatens to expose them years later, the group must come back together to find out who is behind their torment. But is it already too late?
A painfully relatable, darkly witty examination of twenty-first century womanhood.
