On Friday 9th October author and Horrible Histories star Emma Swan will be visiting Thurston Community College to talk to children from local primaries about her hilarious, interactive detective series for 7+ readers, CRUISE SHIP KID as part of this year’s Bury St Edmunds Literature Festival Schools Programme.
During the hour-long event Emma will talk about her childhood growing up on cruise ships. Her parents worked onboard and like Silver, the star of CRUISE SHIP KID, she was ‘ship-schooled’ while travelling the globe. There will be fun quizzes and drama games and hopefully children will be inspired in their own creative writing.
Emma will be staying after the event to sign and dedicate copies of her CRUISE SHIP KID books for any children who would like to purchase a copy.
The paperback books are available to pre-order to be collected at the event for a special price of £6.99 (RRP £7.99) and can be purchased by visiting burylitfest.co.uk/schoolbookshop. Your child will receive their book on day of the visit ready for Emma to sign especially for them.
Free Events for Kids at
Children and Young People under the age of 18 go free to all events at Bury St Edmunds Literature Festival*. If they loved the event with Emma, why not bring them along to another event over the weekend and build on that enthusiasm for books and reading?
Tickets can be purchased at the same time or separately from your book order.
*Under 14s must be accompanied by a paying adult. Accompanying adult tickets for events aimed at children and young people are just £2.50.
