Louis de Bernières -  author of Captain Corelli's Mandolin, one of the most beloved novels of the past thirty years -  turns to the English countryside in his extraordinary new work, Smelling of Rooks. Part memoir, part meditation, part love letter to the natural world, this is de Bernières at his most intimate and revelatory.

In conversation with local author Karen Angelico, Louis will reflect on a life spent listening to the rhythms of rural England, on what it means to grow old in a place you love, and on the relationship between landscape, memory, and the imagination that has sustained his writing for decades.

A headline event not to be missed.
