Bury St. Edmunds Literature Festival will return for its 7th annual festival on 9th-12th October 2025 with a diverse and accessible programme for readers of all ages.

For children, we will once again be offering our schools programme as part of our Bury Lit Fest Creative Writing Competition and we will also offer three public facing live events with authors and storytellers to encourage the children and young people of our area to embrace the joy of reading and writing for fun.

For everyone else, we will be offering our biggest and boldest programme of live events and workshops yet. Our non-fiction events will cover pressing global topics and local interest and we will celebrate the joy of fiction by bringing feted authors to the heart of East Anglia, whilst also highlighting emerging and local authors in the hope everyone will discover a new favourite.

The incredible line-up of authors that will be appearing in Bury St Edmunds will be announced to our subscribers in April, with tickets going on sale on in May. And this year, on 2nd July we will open public booking with an exclusive special event to celebrate the launch of this year's programme.

Sign-up to our monthly newsletter to be the first to find out which authors are coming to Bury St Edmunds this October and buy tickets.

“I had a wonderful time at the Bury Festival: an engaged and intelligent audience, an excellent chair and a very welcoming set of hosts. I'd strongly recommend it to any author.”

"One of the most welcoming literary festivals I’ve had the honour of speaking at. Without question, attending Bury Lit 2023 was one of my highlights of the year."

"Bury is a friendly, well attended and well organised festival in a most delightful location: it was a pleasure to be a part of it in 2023. The talks were interesting and so were the questions."
