For Bury St Edmunds Literature Festival's 7th year, we are delighted to be presenting the biggest and boldest Bury St Edmunds Literature Festival yet!

Our programme of author events has expanded; at the heart of our author events is wide array fabulous fiction in every genre from feted authors, bestselling authors, debut authors, local authors and authors who are appearing in the area for the first time. For those who prefer non-fiction we are excited to present riveting and rigorous author discussions that cover everything from current affairs and celebrating literary heroes to discussing the power of reading to improve mental health and learning the changes we can make to gardens in the face of climate change.

For children, we have ticketed events for all ages of children, with sensory storytelling for babies and preschoolers, interactive storytelling and workshops for kids and an exploration of expressing ourselves through poetry, rap and verse for young people. All this to compliment an expanded programme for local schools that covers all Key Stages, with brilliant author-led onsite school events presented as part of our creative writing competition.

This year, as has always been our always been our goal, we're expanding beyond author events and forging new relationships with cultural institutions across the town to deliver exciting new workshops and events. We're delighted to be partnering with Gold Dust Writer Mentoring to offer our first Creative Writing Workshops, Bury St Edmunds Library and Waterstones Arc to expand our children's programme, Abbeygate Cinema who are offering a series of film screenings to compliment several of our events and Bury Tour Guides who have curated a very special guided walk taking in sites of literary note across the town. In addition to this, we are delighted to be offering a half-day gardening workshop with author/gardeners Sally Morgan and Becky Searle which is the perfect practical accompaniment to their author talk.

We hope there is something for everyone.

Now, it's over to you for the difficult bit...deciding what you're going to see at this year's Bury Lit Fest!

“I had a wonderful time at the Bury Festival: an engaged and intelligent audience, an excellent chair and a very welcoming set of hosts. I'd strongly recommend it to any author.”

"One of the most welcoming literary festivals I’ve had the honour of speaking at. Without question, attending Bury Lit 2023 was one of my highlights of the year."

"Bury is a friendly, well attended and well organised festival in a most delightful location: it was a pleasure to be a part of it in 2023. The talks were interesting and so were the questions."
